Valentine’s Day is just over 2 weeks away, and while all of the guys in our lives are scrambling for gift ideas, I know many of you ladies are trying to figure out what to wear. Although it may be tough to plan what you are wearing if the plans are a surprise (in this case I opt for dressing up just to be safe!) as long as you have some idea of what your date will entail, here are a few suggestions for some Valentine’s Day outfits.
Note: For the single ladies or those of you who do not like the holiday (you know, because it’s a little too Hallmark-ish) then these are also great outfit ideas for a girl’s day/night out! (Happy Galentine’s Day!) These Valentine’s Day outfit ideas will work for you as well!
Casual Date: (Ex. Movies, casual dinner, etc.) Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money and go somewhere fancy. If this is the case and your enjoying a more casual V Day, then I suggest being comfortable but adding elements of style. In this case I paired a cozy cardigan and tee, skinny jeans, and over-the-knee boots. It’s an effortless look that also looks like a million bucks.
Day date: (Ex. Lunch, shopping, spa day etc.) Let’s face it, sometimes life is too busy. If you need to squeeze in your date time into the day, it’s no worry! I suggest something like a nice shirt, a cute pair of flats, and your favorite jeans to enjoy your romantic day together!
Evening date: (Ex. Dinner, drinks, dancing, happy hour, etc.) This Valentine’s Day outfit idea is for that date if you aren’t absolutely sure how dressed up you need to get and want to air on the side of caution. It’s definitely not a casual day date but you aren’t necessarily going to a 5 star restaurant. I suggest wearing a pretty top and skirt with a pair of booties or pumps. This way, you are dressed up but won’t feel over dressed in most places.
Formal date: (Ex. Fancy dinner, drinks, the whole nine yards) This is the date that Valentine’s Day movies are based off of: fancy dinner, roses, lots of champagne, and being given the absolute royal treatment. If filet mignon and creme brûlée are on the menu, chances are you are going to want to dress up to the nines. There are many different options for this, but my no brainer would be a LBD (little black dress) and killer heels. This is a recipe that never goes out of style and can translate on any date, Valentine’s Day or not. If you wish to go a little edgier and trendier, I suggest finding a sexy romper or jumpsuit like this cold-shoulder rose printed one. It’s fun and flirty and gives a new twist on date night.
