So what do you do when it looks like fall all around you but summer is putting on one heck of a fight holding on? Ignore the weather and wear what you want? Well, yes AND no (I don’t need anyone overheating.) But it does mean you need to be creative. This bell sleeve sweater is a new favorite of mine and I am wearing it on repeat all fall (and winter!) long. And although the humidity has been through the roof the past few days, I decided I would style this fall staple with a tweed skirt.
I wore this skirt last year for Thanksgiving and I couldn’t believe how perfect the colors knitted into it went with the color of this sweater. Plus considering it’s been super humid lately, this skirt brought just enough relief to keep me semi-cool. I can be a bit hesitant about pairing a chunky knit sweater with a skirt because I am afraid that there will be too much bulk for me to tuck into the skirt (and unfortunately with my body shape I cannot pull off the untucked sweater with a skirt look.) However, I found that as long as the skirt isn’t super snug, you can be surprised with how thick of a sweater you can get away with tucking.
Another great aspect about this pairing is the shape it creates. On its own, the sweater is a bit boxy but tucked into the sweater not only does it show off my curves but adds a feminine element. Add the bell sleeve detail and this look just got a whole lot more fun. Although this skirt is old, I have linked a very similar one below, where you can shop the rest of the look as well.
So hang in there guys, soon the temps will match the changing leaves around us. Until then, get a little creative on how you can wear your new fall favorites. I swear, this bell sleeve sweater is going to be my go to for the next few months! What pieces are you dying to wear this fall?
