There are a few things that I think of when I think of fall fashion: jackets, boots, scarves, sweaters, and plaid! Plaid shirts seem to appear almost out of thin air once the leaves start falling. I love plaid shirts but sometimes struggle with it because button down shirts in general can make me look pregnant (thank you boobs!) I also feel like it can make me look matronly if it isn’t the right colors or plaid size. For some reason, however, red plaid tends to typically work in my favor.
Maybe it’s because I can wear a good red lipstick or for some reason red works really well with my coloring (and yet for some reason I don’t wear it that often!) I think it just goes the best with my personal style than other types of plaid shirts because I feel like I can put my edgy spin on it. I mean don’t get me wrong, I like plaid shirts and jeans, but I feel like I have to be more choosy with the color and type of plaid on the shirt whereas I feel other girls can just throw any one on and look flawless. Then again, it could be all in my head.
I decided to style this red plaid button down tucked into a pleated leather skirt because I love red plaid with black, especially if it is black leather. The top has that cool classic feel that we all love but the skirt adds a bit of femininity mixed with a touch of edge which you all know I love! Plus, by tucking it into a skirt, I am able to emphasize my waist which is much more flattering on my shape than if I just wore it untucked with jeans.
I truly love this look. It’s fun, stylish, and is pretty easy going. Once it gets even cooler on I would totally throw a faux fur vest over it to add a little bit more glam!
This pleated leather skirt is a couple of years old but I have linked similar styles. Shop the look below!
