OOTD // Layering For Fall

The weather has been kind of screwy here in New England over the past few weeks. Although it is still technically summer, we have definitely experienced a preview of fall which got me thinking about what I can wear from summer into fall. I wore this T-shirt dress from Old Navy a couple of weeks ago when it was basically 90 degrees out, I figured it was a great option to try layering for fall because it is such a versatile piece.

When in doubt when it comes to layer, you can’t go wrong with a jacket and scarf. These are the perfect pieces to add to almost any look during these few weeks where it is an in between of summer and fall. They are easy to add and remove as needed through out the day. As the weather gets colder, you can easily continue to add tights, booties, a hat, and gloves to this look and be set until winter strikes.

My go to this time of year is a leather jacket. You can never go wrong with a great structured faux leather jacket. I got this cognac one last year during the Nordstrom  Anniversary Sale (but don’t stress…it is still in stock in three different colors, just not this one.) This shade of brown is my favorite because it pairs seamlessly with black and let’s face it, once the cold weather hits, I typically gravitate more and more to darker colors. ESPECIALLY black.

When it comes to wearing so many basic pieces, I like to add a print or texture to the look so there is a little more interest and style. This leopard scarf is the perfect print to wear with this look in order to combine the brown and black pieces with ease.

Let’s face it, layering for fall is the best thing about the season. Who doesn’t like to wear more of their favorite items of clothing? I am a more is more type of girl, so it’s no wonder fall is my favorite season for fashion.
