If you’re like me, you are itching to wear your fall clothing but at the same time you aren’t ready for summer to end. Well believe it or not there are some pieces that you intend to wear during fall that you can actually start wearing now! I feel like a lot of people (including myself) get drawn into wearing plaid once fall hits, but with a few strategic styling tricks there is no reason why you can’t style your plaid for summer.
Plaid shirts are essential pieces to have in your wardrobe for fall. They instantly transport me to a time of leaves changing colors, pumpkin spice everything, and boots galore. But when I found this really pretty red and white plaid shirt from Target’s new line A New Day, I couldn’t wait for the seasons to change to wear it!
If you want to wear your plaid pieces now for summer all you have to do is be strategic about what you pair with it. In this case, instead of wearing my go to traditional blue skinny jeans, riding boots, and knit hat I instead opted for my favorite pair of white skinny jeans and lace-up sandals. Sounds simple, right? That’s because it is. The white really brightens up the outfit making it much more appropriate for the season. Plus, the sandals really add a lightness to the look that a pair of boots just wouldn’t do.
Now if you wanted to try something other than jeans, you could easily substitute a pair of cutoff shorts or a denim skirt. It’s fun to get a little creative and by the time fall rolls around, the traditional jeans and boots option will seem refreshingly new. So don’t wait for the season to end to wear your favorite plaid pieces. It is super easy to style plaid for summer.
