Denim is so versatile now a days. To think of it as pant option is super old-school. I usually have a hard time with the typical denim tops that I find. They are usually button-down chambray shirts and even though I own a couple of them I never feel like I truly rock the look. I either feel masculine or frumpy or like I’m just not doing something right. However, this denim ruffle top I found at J.Crew is everything my heart and wardrobe could have ever wanted.
Sometimes denim can be very stiff; no matter what shape you wear it as, it can sometimes lay lifeless on your body. However the ruffles on the sleeves of this top defy all of those misconceptions. They are flirty and light and really make this look super feminine. I never get that feeling when I wear my other denim tops.
Also, because of the fabric I feel as though this top, although sleeveless, is super versatile and transition from season to season. Yes you wouldn’t want to wear a sweater or a jacket over this top because you would hide the beautiful details (and not to mention add unflattering bulk.) However, during the cooler months you could always layer a light weight long sleeve tee underneath the top, almost treating it like a vest. How cute would that be with a leather pleated skirt and tights? Or even a great pair of colored skinny jeans a OTK boots? I love it! I am definitely going to find many different ways to style this denim ruffle top for the fall and into the winter.
Although this denim ruffle top is no longer available online in denim, there is a striped version that is just as cute and just as versatile. I have linked it along with the rest of the look below.
