When you think of fall, what do you think of? Pumpkin spiced lattes? Apple cider? Halloween? I say yes to all of those! But I also automatically think of plaid. Something about this time of year brings out the inner lumberjack in all of us because it seems like the varieties of plaid are endless (and they are!) Sometimes you have to wonder, how much plaid can I own and how will I possibly wear it all? Dare I tell you…you can mix your plaids!
This can be intimidating to some but I assure you it is easier than you think. The key is to choose two different sized plaids in either similar or complimenting colors. In this outfit, I wore a smaller red and navy plaid shirt and paired it with a larger red navy, white, and mustard plaid scarf. The colors obviously go together but since the plaids are two different sizes it doesn’t make the outfit look outrageous or too busy.
Now I sometimes have issues with button down shirts due to my large bust, but since they are such classic pieces I find myself trying to style them in many different ways to compliment my shape. In this case, I decided to such in my shirt into my jeans. I would have thought that this would make me look bigger, but it actually shows my waste off and also makes my legs look longer (because hello…I’m 5’1″) which inevitably makes you look skinnier!
I love this casual look for fall and I encourage you all to try mixing your plaids together!
