Ok so don’t get mad at me…I know it’s not even Labor Day yet, but I think the time for posting about summer trends has past and it is time to start planning for fall. If you are not ready for summer to end (which I know I’m not) at least maybe this can put a silver lining on the new season!
It’s no secret that jackets are crucial during fall. In fact, I think that’s why it is my favorite season (as far as fashion is concerned.) Layers can make an outfit. This fall, you will be seeing a lot of fur…EVERYWHERE. This isn’t total news to the colder months, however aside from the usual browns and black, you will find a wide variety of colors and patterns on fur coats. Pink fur is very big, which is refreshing considering once fall hits most wardrobes lack any color whatsoever and go instantly to black and brown. Blues and teals add an element of richness to the fabric. And patterns. If you want to make a REAL statement, try finding a jacket that has a pattern on it like polka dots or stripes!
PSA- I do not personally like real fur. I tend to opt for the faux options but for the purpose of this post I did not discriminate. So don’t call PETA on me!
Sometimes it’s fun to restyle older pieces that you haven’t worn in a while. For instance, I haven’t worn this dress since last summer because I wasn’t sure how I could wear it again yet make it different. However, with the right accessories you can make old pieces look like new again!
I wanted this dress to have a more casual vibe which is hard due to the cut and chiffon material. When in doubt, wear a vest…at least that’s what I always do! And in the fall, you can substitute your vest with a casual jacket (but it is still waaaaay to hot for a jacket!) Also for a casual feel, I decided to wear my hair’s natural wave. I only feel like my slight wave works in the summer because it gives off a beachy vibe…though I haven’t been to the beach once this summer. #newmomproblems
I still wanted a little pizzazz for this outfit so I wore my new amazing statement earrings and balanced out the fringe of the tassel with some fringe on my feet! You can never have too much fringe!

I don’t typically write about my home decor but this kind of overlaps with a beauty theme. Plus I am on a decorating kick around my house lately so perhaps that will change.
I recently purchased these two great pieces for makeup organization on Amazon. Hey are super affordable but make your beauty collection look like 1 million bucks. I love the clear acrylic, something about it and make it have a very luxurious feel. Plus it makes it super easy to see all of your beauty products through the transparent material. This way when you’re in a rush (or just a mom who only has a few minutes to get her face on) you can get ready with ease.
Both Makeup Brush Holder and Makeup Organizer are from Amazon
Jewelry is making a big statement this summer so I thought I would post about not one, but TWO huge trends.
First, the 90’s are making a revival with choker necklaces in a big way. Whether it is a simple black strand or elaborate gold chains, the varieties are endless and the look is on point. Plus they com in a variety of price points, some are even less than $10!
The second trend that is a must this season is statement earrings. It says it right there in the name, these dangly baubles help add an instant statement to whatever outfit you are wearing. Tassels are a huge trend in the earring game, but as long as they are bold and colorful, you are on the right track.
So this is my first blog post under my new blog name, “5 Feet of Fashion.” I decided to change the name because it seemed a little more personal and unique. I mean, I constantly struggle with clothing options due to my lack of height and I know there are plenty of you out there who have the same issue. Also, I feel like my body type is part of what sets me apart from other fashion bloggers because let’s face it, I’m not a 5’10” supermodel. I’m just over 5 feet tall and am curvy. But I am me. And that’s all I can be.
Anyway, this off the shoulder dress is super sexy to say the least. It’s bodycon silhouette is super hot and then the little cut out detail on the shoulder shows a little bit of skin. Ooooh la la! But the midi length of this dress keeps the look sophisticated. The length of this dress also helps give the illusion of height and slenderness, which can also be helpful with a bodycon dress…especially 4 months postpartum!
I love wearing this dress during this warm weather because the material isn’t so clingy that I’m uncomfortable and dripping with sweat but it will also be a staple come fall. Just add tights, boots, and switch out the vest for a jacket and you are good! I wanted to wear this dress for day so I added a faux leather moto vest to add an element of edge and casualness. I felt confident in this dress all day.
