OOTD // Black and White With a Twist

Even though I am mentally prepping for fall (wardrobe wise) summer is still in full swing! It is hotttttt. And that’s ok! I am not one of those people who are dying for the season to end because before we know it, it will be dark by 5pm. And I’m just NOT ready for that.

I haven’t worn this old skirt of mine (oldie but goodie!) in a while so I thought it needed to make an appearance before the season does inevitably end. I have a hard time with it though not because it doesn’t go with a lot (hello…it’s black!) but because it is so body conscious that it sometimes makes me a little….self conscious. Let’s face it, I have a little bit of junk in my trunk and there is no hiding it in this skirt (or any of the extra chunk that I have yet to loose since having the baby.)

Nevertheless, with temps hitting in the 90’s today, I threw caution to thawing and decided to wear it. I chose this really great windowpane print tank to add an element of sophistication to an otherwise sexy skirt. I kept the accessories and the shoes simple, just popping a bit of color on the lip. Sometimes, you have to just flaunt what you’ve got and embrace the curves!

Fall Trend du Jour // Statement Fur

Ok so don’t get mad at me…I know it’s not even Labor Day yet, but I think the time for posting about summer trends has past and it is time to start planning for fall. If you are not ready for summer to end (which I know I’m not) at least maybe this can put a silver lining on the new season!

It’s no secret that jackets are crucial during fall. In fact, I think that’s why it is my favorite season (as far as fashion is concerned.) Layers can make an outfit. This fall, you will be seeing a lot of fur…EVERYWHERE. This isn’t total news to the colder months, however aside from the usual browns and black, you will find a wide variety of colors and patterns on fur coats. Pink fur is very big, which is refreshing considering once fall hits most wardrobes lack any color whatsoever and go instantly to black and brown. Blues and teals add an element of richness to the fabric. And patterns. If you want to make a REAL statement, try finding a jacket that has a pattern on it like polka dots or stripes!

PSA- I do not personally like real fur. I tend to opt for the faux options but for the purpose of this post I did not discriminate. So don’t call PETA on me!

OOTD // Navy and Pink

I have been all about restyling some of my favorite pieces recently, especially before the summer ends. I decided to try something new with this super cute lace top. Since the last time I wore it I was wearing pants, I wanted to try to pair it with a skirt. I thought this navy midi skirt was the perfect option because the color combo is a little unexpected but not wildly crazy either. It’s super feminine and fun!

Until next time xoxo

OOTD // Leopard and Lace

My love affair for shorts this summer continues…even as the season is slowly winding down. And when I found this pair of black laced shorts for less than $10 I had to grab them! I decided to mix the frilly fabric with the edginess of leopard print. It feels sophisticated yet fun in an every day sort of way. What also goes with leopard? Red lipstick obvi.

I have to apologize for the size for my images being all sorts of weird sizes…I am having technical difficulties so until I straighten them out, bare with me! Thanks.

OOTD // Marbled Makeover

Sometimes it’s fun to restyle older pieces that you haven’t worn in a while. For instance, I haven’t worn this dress since last summer because I wasn’t sure how I could wear it again yet make it different. However, with the right accessories you can make old pieces look like new again!

I wanted this dress to have a more casual vibe which is hard due to the cut and chiffon material. When in doubt, wear a vest…at least that’s what I always do! And in the fall, you can substitute your vest with a casual jacket (but it is still waaaaay to hot for a jacket!) Also for a casual feel, I decided to wear my hair’s natural wave. I only feel like my slight wave works in the summer because it gives off a beachy vibe…though I haven’t been to the beach once this summer. #newmomproblems

I still wanted a little pizzazz for this outfit so I wore my new amazing statement earrings and balanced out the fringe of the tassel with some fringe on my feet! You can never have too much fringe!

My Current Obsession // Oganized Beauty

I don’t typically write about my home decor but this kind of overlaps with a beauty theme. Plus I am on a decorating kick around my house lately so perhaps that will change.

I recently purchased these two great pieces for makeup organization on Amazon. Hey are super affordable but make your beauty collection look like 1 million bucks. I love the clear acrylic, something about it and make it have a very luxurious feel. Plus it makes it super easy to see all of your beauty products through the transparent material. This way when you’re in a rush (or just a mom who only has a few minutes to get her face on) you can get ready with ease.

Summer Trend du Jour // Jewelry Edition: Chokers and Statement Earrings

Jewelry is making a big statement this summer so I thought I would post about not one, but TWO huge trends.
First, the 90’s are making a revival with choker necklaces in a big way. Whether it is a simple black strand or elaborate gold chains, the varieties are endless and the look is on point. Plus they com in a variety of price points, some are even less than $10!
The second trend that is a must this season is statement earrings. It says it right there in the name, these dangly baubles help add an instant statement to whatever outfit you are wearing. Tassels are a huge trend in the earring game, but as long as they are bold and colorful, you are on the right track.
