The must have boot for fall and winter has to be the over-the-knee boot. They are so versatile, edgy, and sexy all at the same time. And if you were to ask me what the must have textile of the moment is I would have to tell you VELVET!
That’s why I asked Santa (ok…my husband) for these grey velvet over-the-knee boots for Christmas. But since the holidays I have been so busy and, quite frankly, exhausted that the opportunity to wear these amazing boots has not arose. Until now!
My husband and I decided to catch a movie during the long weekend ( Rogue One…woot woot!) so I thought, yes time to wear some badass boots! But I have to be honest, I had a rather difficult time styling them. Hey, just because I love fashion doesn’t mean that I don’t run into some roadblocks. What’s tough with being so short and wanting to wear such high boots is that you want to make sure the proportions balance out.
I eventually came to the conclusion of “when in doubt, go monochromatic.” This makes the look cohesive, but it doesn’t mean you have to wear the exact same shade of the color you choose. In this case, the boots were the lightest shade of grade, my jacket was the darkest, and the sweater has the perfect mixture of greys. I broke up the look with a tiny bit of black and a pop of color with my bordeaux handbag. And voila! Date time!
